Just to take over the title of some previous disappointed topic, Innocent Grey didn't forget us with their Flowers series. Kara no Shoujo 3 is under production! \o/

And you don't have much time to vote for your 5 favorites characters.

Is there enough reason for this to have a 3? Note I haven't played 2 yet cause it's not yet of course.
I mean I get if it's a whole new story but couldn't they have named it something else at this point?

殻ノ少女3 is a temporary title. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the final title must be 骸ノ少女. To use a 3 when the second part deliberately didn't use a number is a little too bad for the harmonization.
But for the need of the news, I guess they couldn't play with the name because nobody would have understood it.
About the content of the 2, I can't answer you because I am waiting this summer for the MG release, like you.

At this point, I was wondering if MG would release PP -Pianissimo- or Caucasus (even Flowers) but with that news, I guess KnS 3 will be their first choice. Or Innocent Grey will sell them a package like it maybe was with Cartagra + KnS. (Or that was only because both of them were fan-translated and they needed to do something about that.)Last modified on 2015-03-15 at 19:59

I don't know flowers made it on their top 10 most requested list and it seemed like the only one that was possible so it may be the first thing they get. Plus they can easily put it on steam.

I've been waiting for three for years after dropping part 1 when they first said trilogy. Now once it's released I can continue this series that I hate so much.

And where's the info about the announcement, btw?
I don't see anything about that on their official site and twitter is also silent about it.

On the official website, it's written on the White Day picture, above the "Innocent Grey 10th anniversary".
制作中 means "in production".

And I agree with supervamp78, Flowers seems a easy deal like it's all ages yuri.

Oh, I didn't notice.

@2

I haven't read Kara no Shoujo 2 yet, but they say that it ends in kind of cliffhanger or something. Like the first one did.
And it seems it was supposed to be a trilogy from the very beginning.
So yeah, it has to be a direct continuation, not an entirely different story.Last modified on 2015-03-16 at 20:47

Like the first one did.
I don't remember seeing a cliffhanger in the first opus...
In fact, it was unexpected for me to learn when they announced the sequel. And, btw, my turn, where those "it seems it was supposed to be a trilogy from the very beginning" or "when they first said trilogy" are from? I didn't run after the news because it was always a good way to plow into spoilers about the second opus.

It's kind of pain to google source now, since I'm browsing on the smartphone, but from the very first game there was info that Kara no Shoujo was supposed to be a part of the series called 'Psycho-Mystery ADV' or something.
Nobody spelled out that it's going to be a trilogy at the time, nobody even said if all the games in the series will be directly related, but I guess InnoGrey had planned this already then. I myself always wondered, why Cartagra isn't a part of that 'series', even though there are quite a few characters in common. And why isn't Caucasus and Pianissimo, even though they all are so similar in style? Now I know why. I mistook the nature of the 'Psycho Mystery ADV'. I thought it's going to be something like Science ADV or Infinity Series, but they literally meant 'series', with direct sequels and everything.

About the cliffhanger in the first game:
Both culprits got away, main female lead was kidnapped.
I agree, somehow it did feel complete, or at least not very cliffhanger-ish anyway. But now, when there are sequels, it's kinda pointless to deny what they really were trying to do.
And it's praiseworthy, I think. Not often you see an ending that really feels like an ending, while secretly setting up the sequels.Last modified on 2015-03-16 at 22:13

Umm... I think you're a little hasty with this, there is no official annoucement at all. I understand you would like to see the title, i would like to see it too, but there is no point in grabbing the smallest possible "clue" about it. (also, i didn't even find the "制作中" what you were referring to.)

I was wondering if MG would release PP -Pianissimo- or Caucasus (even Flowers)
According to this their next Innogray title will be Flowers. Then probably Flowers 2. And i think they won't work on Pianissimo or Caucasus, if they didn't pick them up during these years since release. Sadly, since both are great. Personally i liked Pianissimo more, than Cartagra, but not better than KnS. :)Last modified on 2015-03-21 at 17:11

also, i didn't even find the "制作中" what you were referring to
The banner disappeared because the Popularity Vote ended. (Tokisaka Yukari is at the third place \o/.) But it was here, believe me.
If a 殻ノ少女3(仮)制作中 written on a banner on the official website of Innocent Grey is not enough for you to see in that an official announcement, I don't know what you need. It's a little teaser before they make the website, the production must be at the beginning so no need to rush.

And i think they won't work on Pianissimo or Caucasus, if they didn't pick them up during these years since release.
The Innocent Grey's VN are not fast cash grabbers as far as I know, you need time to get back your investment. KnS had a really slow start because there were a lot of problems starting with the voiceless version. I really thought Cartagra wouldn't be released at this point. By the way, I talked about a pack KnS+Cartagra but it was a mistake, Cartagra was licenced with KnS2. It was just before the Voiced Edition so I think there were other parameters than good sales to decide about those two licencing even if Cartagra must have been in the cardboard from the beginning.
You saw KnS regularly showing his nose in tops since the Voiced Edition (not in the top in 2012, 8th in 2013 and 9th for the hard-copies released only three month ago, 1th for the hard-copies in 2014). "It's actually been a fairly consistent seller since it's initial release".
Then Cartagra need time to be (re)translated and you need much more work to translate an Inogure's VN than for a nukige like Boob Wars. And now, I want to say: same thing, without the "rather disastrous launch with all kinds of issues", Cartagra "should cover costs", not good not bad. Need time, an hard-copy version. For the moment, it was 11th for 2014.
Then there is KnS2 just behind.

So how are they supposed to pick PP or Caucasus up??? With such planning and risks?

In fact, Flowers should be a bless for those like me who want PP and Caucasus because the risks are higher than with Cartagra (maybe a little less for PP than for Caucasus because it shares characters with KnS2?) or KnS2. It seems more easy to sell Flowers just because it's all age. We know how much a steam release can be determinant. With that, there must be fallout on the others Inogure's VN and if MG truly loves Inogure's VN or simply want them to balance their nukige "bad" image with a more "noble" image, or just think that others titles of the Inogure's catalogue could be profitable since Flowers worked, why not? But there is KnS3 next...

(please, vndb, don't make my heart races like that with your "Validation code expired", I thought I lost all my text...)Last modified on 2015-03-21 at 20:31

Ah ok, sorry, took a while to find the picture.
I knew the picture, but without the texts.(on blog) And seems i misunderstood something, since i thought you said there was only a text "制作中" on the picture. But now that i see it and its the full "殻ノ少女3(仮)制作中" text, that makes difference. (・ω・)ノ

And about PP and Caucasus i don't want to start a discussion, since it was only my personal opinion. I would glad if they would make it, but im almost sure they will pick Flowers+Flowers 2 as next InnoGray titles. (and i think i will read those too, since the composer, character designer and director are the same. Its still InnoGray, and I think it will good, because they made it, and they know what they are doing.)
But then again: all of this is only my opinion, should say that intuition, that they won't make that 2.

edit.:
Oh, about the "sharing characters" between Cartaga, Pianissimo, Kara No Shoujo 2: Pianissimo and Cartagra have the same takoyaki seller. (Arata Daisaku) I think he will pop up in 虚ノ少女 too (but he wasn't there in 殻ノ少女 if i remember good), and he will be the "shared character"..Last modified on 2015-03-21 at 20:54

UPD: Already not needed. Nevermind then.

I started PP Pianissimo couple of days ago, currently at third chapter and I already like it more then Cartagra. At least the protag is not so useless. But it looks like Pianissimo has way lower production values then Cartagra.
Maybe the game will look better if mangagamer licenses it and ports it to Unity. One of the reasons I want to see PP and Caucasus released by mangagamer as well. I even voted for them on the survey, but It seems there wasn't many like me, and most of the people preferred to vote for Flowers instead. So, yeah. Prospects aren't too good.Last modified on 2015-03-21 at 20:59

What do you mean by "production value"? No spoil please. The interface, like you are talking about porting it on Unity?

but im almost sure they will pick Flowers+Flowers 2 as next InnoGray titles
We agree on that but one more thing: if they didn't pick PP and Caucasus until now, it's because it's more simpler to bet on KnS1 related VN like Cartagra and the sequels when KnS is so appreciated. You don't need to recreate your communications from the beginning.
Personally, I hope for PP first, to allow the release of the Nagomibako fandisk even if I don't know if the content is worthy. But, let us supposed that they release Flowers 1+2 and it sell very well, there is no guarantee that they won't move with the flow of new releases with Innocent Grey releasing one VN each 2/3 years.

Well, the interface is ugly, for one thing. The game overall looks kind of cheap. Too many uses of the same background image for various places, sprites aren't exactly too varied with emotions and poses, haven't seen too much event CGs either, that sort of thing.
I wouldn't normally even notice it, but comparing it to Cartagra (the original japanese version too, not only Mangagamer release), that looks so beautiful and stylish, the difference is pretty obvious. It can be seen even if you just compare the screenshots.Last modified on 2015-03-21 at 22:10

^ So how would porting it to Unity improve the background images, sprites and event CGs ?

It won't. But there would be small things like font smoothing and maybe touched up transitions. Such things do make a difference and would make the game feel at least a little bit better.Last modified on 2015-03-22 at 01:05

Anything new regarding the third episode ?

It seems like they will attend an expo during december to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the studio. Sugina Miki draw a new banner with a character i have never seen before so maybe they will announce something about KnS3 ?

There is an interview with Sugina Miki in the Tech Gian of December. According to link the scenario is on the verge of reaching climax... but we need to wait the end of Flowers Hiver before they start concentrate on KnS3. I thought it was after the next Flowers but the next Flowers is Automne and we don't have a date for this one... ;_;
KnS3 in 2017-2018-2100? ;____;

For us, English only readers, just think of the wait time on this one. The wait is going to be ten times worse if they pick the fools they picked to translate the flowers games for this game. Flowers is such a simple and short game yet it took them 2 or something years to simply translate a game when it was made in just a year? Besides that I hope they hire a company that actually has the ability and desire to get this one out in a reasonable amount of time, I don't think they will though.

Not even the Japanese version has been developed though.
