There should be an option in "My Profile" that allows you to hide unofficial visual novels from the main page of a visual novel

maybe it has been suggested but how come we can't see the VNs we have previously wishlisted in the general list ? A simple color code would help so much to know right away which VN we clicked on already and wishlisted or blacklisted so we don't click on them again. Because right now, we have no indicators telling us if we visited a VN already or not, or if we wishlisted it already or not, before we actually click on it. It's a huge waste of time.
And for blacklisted we could even have an option to just not display them in the list at all. Currently they are displayed like every other VN, and only after we click on it, we realize it has been blacklisted, so we waste time browsing even more.
We could even have a "not interested" color code added to the wishlist (high, medium, low etc... + not interested) that would still display the VN in the list but with a color code that remind us that we already clicked on this one and we're not interested in it, so it would be different from blacklisted, which would just remove the VN from the list.
Thank you.Last modified on 2018-11-22 at 16:33

@527: The VN list does show your wishlist status and you can filter on it.

I have a suggestion (I'd even like to request it ;-) ) for /u<#>/list:
It would be great to have "rating" as an additional sortable column.
Reasoning: If users have a long backlog they might want to read the highest rated vn they own first. In the present list format there is no way to see that without manually checking every single vn from the list. There should be room enough even on smaller browser windows and the additional db query condition should use less resources than tens or hundreds of manual page calls.
Thx for considering that...

The main VN list can do that. Improved user's VN list is also planned, I'll take that into account.

also tia for future improvements!

When we view a summary of the visual novels under a producer, it lists the releases (it is the release itself, not the VN, which you list the producer I think) and the release has some icons indicating things like the platform it's for, the language it is, and whether or not it is partial or complete.
I would like to know, since screenshots must be linked to a release as well (and not the overall novel) if it would be possible for a release to display an icon indicating that a release has screen shots for it added to the database.
This would make it easier to identify which VN are in need of screenshots from the producer list, without needing to visit each individual page. It would also help in browsing when a user only wants to see a game that has a screenshots.
If that could be coded to appear automatically when a screenshot aliases that release, that would be ideal, but if not, then I am wondering if we could add "has screenshots" as a field that editors can manually check once they add (or if already existing, once they recognize) screenshots aliased with that release.Last modified on 2018-12-16 at 18:07

@yorhel I seems missed the thread. Here is the suggestion: link
Basically - could you please add "created" or "modified" column in My Visual Novel List (as I understand it is there in the DB)Last modified on 2019-01-18 at 12:42

I suggest some pages would benefit from being changed to display in reverse chronological order, namely producers and staff. IMO, in most circumstances recent work has the greatest relevance to people using the site. E.g. For Alice Soft, even collapsed you have to scroll a fair way to see the latest games. Some staff are now north of 500 credits.
Maybe could be taken under consideration for the next design if not now.

Even if not standard/default, being able to sort tags alphabetically rather than by weight would help a lot in finding a tag or the lack of when one is already on a VN page. Especially when the VN has quite a fair lot of tags.

Since play time is subjective I propose for "Length" to also feature the number of lines of text.

^We had the idea of adding amount of moji or kb in sjis. (the latter being used heavily by the industry for writing quotas as well) That still hasn't happened, and may never because people can't use it well.
Lines is even worse, so it's not happening. It tells you even less than the playtime right now, as some games have lines with an average of 10 moji, while others have 60.

That still hasn't happened, and may never because people can't use it wellWell, rather than not being usable, it is simply not easy to discern for many, for most lack the knowledge and tools. Most of the time that space would be left empty, similarly to how the line count (which is of course too variable) would also be left empty more often than not.
However, if vndb were to implement a script size field (where one may be able to name kb and file type to be save and have it translated into approx word count, unique Kanji count is also possible) and were to offer the tools and knowledge, many fields would actually be filled (especially Kirikiri2 which is pretty much standard+rather easy) like a field with unique CG count which would also serve as fine data for, well, a database.
After all, books usually have their page count listed whereas ebooks have do have their file size listed, though in case of the latter, LNs do not have 26MB of text but most if it are artwork, making the LN not average at all!
Biggest concern rather is legality of especially discerning the script since it indeed requires third party tools which one could claim to break copyright laws. While CG can be counted without help, script can not be and without the tools provided, literary no one would count the words/characters.
But welp, the problem here also is that the read time is not only variable but what's with 2-10h? Even if 10-30h is slightly better (still a factor of 3 thou') but at this point it'd be better to have users just state their active time to read everything* and vndb takes the average and median.
*minus short Bad EDs and multiple routes with same length where math can be done
